AJ Technical

Heart Install

My story

I started off helping out the school tech team in Year 7. In Year 9, when the school had a new theatre built, I saved the school thousands in electricians' fees by coming up with a control solution that used existing dimmer packs.

Over the following years, I found myself hunched over countless desks, listening to pink noise, hanging PA, and getting people to shout DMX addresses at me from stages.

I have now been the Treasurer of Nottingham TEC for the past three years. And as of this year I am the Head of Technology and Digital for University Radio Nottingham, one of the most advanced student stations in the country, maintaining a complex broadcast network involving AES67 from AXIA X-Nodes, GPIO integration from across the studio, and RCS software. This runs alongside my freelance work and studies, and I have been fortunate enough to receive training from well-known organisations such as NEP, Encore, and many others.

Anyway, less about my “story", more about AJ Technical.

What I do

AJ Technical is the trading name I use for all of my freelance work. I carry out a wide range of projects relating to sound, lighting, and events.

Need someone to help tear down, maintain, and re-install a huge sound, lighting, and audio rig in one of the largest production spaces in the East Midlands? I’m your guy.

Equally, if you need a hand troubleshooting a couple of PA issues, I can help with that too.
